Dozer was pulled from a shelter, where he was taken after his owner was arrested.
Dozer has not had a foster or adoption application submission since coming to us, which is baffling because he is a truly gorgeous and affectionate gentleman. He is so loving and is a big fan of attention, especially giving and receiving hugs.
He enjoys a good “sniff and stroll” where he has the freedom to stop and sniff as often and as long as he wants (when dogs use their nose, it helps to reduce their heart rate and their stress level!). He has been taken on a hike and did beautifully—he walked nicely on leash and had no reaction to cyclists, walkers, runners, or other dogs! While he is okay with other dogs at a distance outside, in the home, he must be an only pet.
In a shelter environment, Dozer can be overly excited when he is initially let out of his kennel. This is entirely understandable as they do spend the majority of their days and nights confined to their kennels. It is because of this that we recommend he not be in a home where there are young children or older adults he could accidentally bump into with his excited wiggles and knock down.
We suspect that with consistent, daily exercise and basic training and manners work, this may not be the case in the future but we do what we can to ensure we adopt dogs based on what is best for the dog and the adopter.
Dozer is a beautiful soul who is available for day trips, overnights, temporary or long-term fostering, and, of course, adoption! He’s waiting to be your one and only!
